Borobudur Temple, Beautiful Places

Borobudur is a Buddhist temple located in the Magelang City, Central Java Province, and about 40 km from the Yogyakarta city. Borobudur temple consists of 6 levels of a square, 3 level in the form of circular and 1 main stupa, the total is 10 stupa. At each level there are several stupas. At the Borobudur stupa in addition there are 72 main stupa and there is a statue of Buddha in every stupa. Ten levels of Buddhist philosophy is, the ten levels of Bodhisattva who must pass to reach the perfection to be a Buddha in nirvana. The main stupa symbolizes the perfection which is the highest level. when viewed from above, Borobudur structure forming a mandala structure that describes the patterns of human thought and Buddhist cosmology. Borobudur Temple was built in the 9th century, or about the year 800 AD.

There is a gate on the fourth side of the temple and on it there are stairs to a level like a pyramid. It describes the Buddhist philosophy that all life came from rocks. Stone became sand, then a plant and then into an insect, then a wild animal and pets, and the last to be human. This process is known as reincarnation. The final process is to be the soul and finally into nirvana. Buddhist philosophy drawn on the reliefs and sculptures tell the whole temple of Borobudur in every stage of enlightenment in the process of human life.

Borobudur Temple is a huge building which was just a giant pile of stone blocks which have a 42 meter high. Making this temple without using cement or adhesive. These stones are only connected with the pattern and just stacked it. The base of Borobudur has a size of about 118 m on each side. approximately 55,000 cubic meters of stones used to build this temple fatherly. All the stone used came from a river around Borobudur. These stones are cut and transported then connected with a pattern like the lego games.

While the relief began to be made after the completion of rocks stacked and connected. Reliefs found on the temple walls. Borobudur has 2670 different relief. Relief is read clockwise. This relief depicts a story that I read it starts and ends at the gate to the east. This suggests that the main gate of the Borobudur temple facing east like most other Buddhist temples.

Vesak celebration at Borobudur

Every June in a leap year, Borobudur temple used Buddhist in Indonesia to commemorate Vesak. Vesak is celebrated as the day of birth, death and when Siddharta Gautama obtained the highest wisdom to become the Buddha Shakyamuni. The third event is called Vesak Trisuci. by foot, Vesak ceremony centered at three Buddhist temples are of Mendut Temple to Pawon  Templeand ending at Borobudur Temple.

On the eve of Vesak, precisely when the seconds from the top of the full moon, Buddhists gather to surround the temple of Borobudur. At the time, people believed that Borobudur as a gathering place of supernatural powers. According to belief, the Buddha will appear in a look at the top of the mountain exactly in the south during Vesak.

Now Borobudur has become a tourist attraction that is preferred by many tourists both local and foreign tourists. In addition, the Borobudur Temple has been a holy place and the center of the most important annual celebration for Buddhists in Indonesia, Vesak. Borobudur is one proof of the greatness and the human intellect has ever made in Indonesia. In addition to Bali and Jakarta, Borobudur is a major cultural tourism and in Indonesia.
